In and around Xcalak you can find
several nice rental houses and hotels. Below you find a description
of most of the houses.
On
the beach... down Mexico way. Poca Cosa, our Costa Maya getaway, is
available for rent. It consists of two beachfront
rental apartments, Arriba (upstairs) and Abajo (downstairs),
each with fully equipped kitchens. Both units have access to the roof
top deck; the perfect spot to watch
the sun rise and set, work on that all-over tan, or be dazzled by billions
of stars.

beach house while they're in Wyoming-- welcome to Kimmels Kabana.
Enjoy the view of the Caribbe from expansive rooftop deck. The bougainvilla-stripe
around the villa matches the cascades of flowers in the yard; and lots
of Coconut Palm Trees, lilies and Sweet Williams.
Their airy home runs on 48 volt solar system with propane
backup, there's power available 24 hours. Water conservation is attained
by catchment system for into 2 cisterns. They are fortunate to have
a good well, rare in this area, and is designed to slowly fill the cistern
without breaking the salinity barrier.

The dining table, chairs and
kitchen stools are all creations of local artist carpenters from Limones,
a village nearby, crafted of Cedar and distinctly lovely pieces of furniture.
The Kabana is located 3 miles north of the town of Xcalak, just north
of Costa de Cocos. Paula/Ernesto's grocery truck comes every Saturday/Wednesday;
alert our caretakers to hail the truck, though usually the ETA is 1:00
- 3:00.
Caretakers, Jose & Ruth will help you with information; our Manager,
Margo at Sin Dudas Villas available by Marine Radio in our caretaker's
house, should you have questions. Bottled water supplied and linens
will be changed twice weekly. There is 3x weekly housekeeping service--
if you wish daily cleaning, please arrange this with Ruth at a fee of
$50 pesos/day for the extra days. Kabana Prices are $130/night (4 people)
; $140/night (6 people).
You'll want to buy beer in Xcalak Pueblo at Isabels or
Melchor's stores.

Welcome
to Nuestro Tesoro (Our Treasure). This enchanting house has 2 villas.
Our first floor villa has a queen bedroom, living room with floor to
ceiling windows for breathtaking views (2 futons for extra sleeping),
fully equipped kitchen and a spacious tiled bath. There is a screened
dining palapa with a BBQ grill just off of the kitchen. Nuestro Tesoro
has satellite TV in both units.
Our second floor has a queen bedroom, living room (1 futon for extra sleeping) , spacious tiled bath and a fully equipped kitchen that opens up to a large private screened palapa for dining. Just off of the palapa is your own tarranza, perfect
for star gazing or spectacular sunrises.
Rates are based on 2 persons, daily housekeeping and purfied drinking water included.

The
Coral Garden Inn is an enchanting two unit complex with authentic hand-hewn
wood and rattan furniture, decorative Mexican tile floors, bathrooms
and countertops, and local artisan designed wall decorations and bedspreads.
Each 1500 square foot unit has two large bedrooms. The master bedroom
has an incredible ocean view and a queen size bed. The spacious second
bedroom has two double beds with plenty of closet space and storage.
There is a full size bathroom with a large shower, toilet and sink.
The living area includes a fully equipped kitchen with an adjoining
living room with fold out double bed, stereo system and CDs. The kitchen
has a propane gas powered refrigerator, stove and oven with plenty
of glasses, plates, dishes, flatware, knives, pots and pans. There
is also a base for dispensing 5 gallon jugs of purified drinking water.
There is a large deck area outside the sliding glass doors of the living
room and master bedroom. Patio furniture, lounge chairs and Mayan hammocks
are available so you can eat, drink, relax and enjoy the incredible
view of the Caribbean and bask in its warm topical breezes. The observation
roof offers additional views of the Caribbean to the east and lagoons
and mangrove jungle to the west. The upstairs and downstairs units
are identical and each can sleep up to 8 people. Daily maid service
is provided.
Water is supplied from a rain collection system which stores water
in a large in-ground cistern. Water is then pumped to the rooftop holding
tank where gravity takes over. This system supplies both hot and cold
running water. There is a propane water heater if needed.
Electricity is provided by a solar powered 24 volt battery charging
system run through a 2400-watt inverter to create the same 110a/c that
is standard in the U.S. There is adequate power to run the lights,
ceiling fans and stereo. Note that appliances which generate heat require
a large amount of energy. These include hair dryers, clothes irons,
electric coffee pots and toasters- all of which are prohibited, as
they will damage and close down the power supply.

Rancho
Cielos Azules features 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. There is a king size
bed in the master bedroom, two full size beds in the other upstairs
bedroom, and two twin beds in each of the downstairs bedrooms. There
is also a queen size futon sofa and two large hammocks for sleeping.
There are plenty of towels and linens. The kitchen has full size propane
gas powered refrigerator, a gas stove and oven.
Electricity is provided by a solar power, there is a gasoline generator
for backup electric service. There are ceiling fans but fortunately,
the ocean breezes usually keep the entire house comfortable without
their use. You'll find Cielos Azules very comfortable, with many amenities
you would not expect to find in this off-the-beaten-track location.
You'll have the best of both worlds in this remote area: pristine beauty,
rustic charm, and yet modern comforts of home.

The beach and waters in front of Casa del Sol are protected
by a 250 mile barrier reef. The word's second longest virgin coral reef,
and provides the perfect area for swimming and snorkeling. The numerous
coral head inside the reef itself offers many varieties of sea life.
Fish with various vibrant colors, sting rays, octopus, lobster, barracuda,
tarpon, flounder, conch, and sea turtles are just a few of the inhabitants
seen in this area!
