Enjoy the pristine nature of paradise, both underwater and above water in Mahahual. Also known as the Costa Maya, situated on the Mexican Caribbean coast, more than 350 kilometers south of Cancun and only 100 kilometers north of Belize. Each of our beautiful beach cabanas was designed and built by hand by local Maya craftsmen. Your private cabana includes two double beds, hot showers, and a private deck complete with hammock. Our incredible beach is just steps away in your front yard. In the mornings, we offer a full continental breakfast with coffee, juices and fresh locally baked pastries. There are also several wonderful restaurants within walking distance, ranging from authentic Mexican, Italian, Thai, classic European and American. Your cabana is as authentic as it is comfortable.
Considered by many to be some of the world's most talented builders, the Maya use all traditional hand-milled wood and palapa materials. Our resort is also an eco-resort, mostly powered by solar and wind energy. If you are interested in learning more about ways to help preserve our planet's natural resources, please set up some time to meet with Jono. If you are looking for a unique dive experience, Costa Maya (Mahahual) is the place and Dreamtime is your host.
Until now this area has been a closely kept secret. Very few divers were aware of this hidden jewel. Although awareness is rapidly growing, the government is determined to maintain its local culture and charm. Don't expect mass-tourism, here you will find the atmosphere of the real Caribbean. White beaches, palm trees, mangroves and above all unspoiled dive sites. Perfect for the diver who is looking for an experience different from all others. Dreamtime offers dives on the beautiful Meso American barrier reef as well as the seldom dove Chinchorro Banks. Costa Maya has some of the most pristine diving in the world. Everywhere you turn, you will find perfectly intact hard and soft corals, tons of marine life and reef formations that take your breath away. Scuba Diving magazine named Costa Maya the "Best up and Coming Dive Destination" in 2005. Sport Diver magazine referred to Mahahual as Maha-Wow!! In addition to the natural beauty of Costa Maya, Dreamtime Dive Centre is top notch. The staff has over 35 years of combined scuba instruction experience. Your safety and protection of the reef is their priority. Unlike most dive centers, Dreamtime does NOT believe in the cattle boat
diving mentality. The dive groups are small and personable. You will
absolutely love Costa Maya. The diving is incredible and the town is paradise. Diving Mahahual is now one of the most sought after adventures in the dive community.

KaiLuum
is more than just a place - it's more like a feeling - an intangible
something that we are instinctively drawn to. Here, natural rhythms
prevail. You will be free from ringing phones, pagers, bulk email and
television! The tensions of everyday life fade away while appointment
books, wristwatches and even shoes become unnecessary.
The KaiLuum experience is based in simplicity. The accommodations
are canvas wall tents placed beneath thatch palapa roofs. Each unit
is furnished with beds, nightstands and shelving unit. Torchlight and
candlelight take the place of electric bulbs.
Private shower and toilet facilities are located in the central bath
houses. To the uninitiated, it might seem odd to have no facilities
within the room, but we find that those worries quickly fade after
only a short time on the beach. The showers are private and large.
The water is hot and plentiful and there is a dressing area in each
one. The toilets are also private and are located a moments walk from
any unit on the property.
Meals are wholesome and plentiful. Breakfast and dinner are always
included in the nightly rate and lunch is available at additional charge.
Breakfast consists of a fruit, cereal & juice buffet - all you
can eat as well as the hot dish of the day. Mayan cuisine is a specialty
and you will find it is tasty and quite satisfying. Dinner is served
family style, by candlelight, in our open air dining room. Guests gather
and mingle about the bar for happy hour and are seated en masse for
the evening meal. Engaging conversation is the norm and many lasting
friendships have been forged over the evening meal at KaiLuum.
The honor bar system is one thing of which we are extremely proud.
It too is a study in simplicity! You just help yourself to soft drinks,
beer, alcohol, ice & mixers - any time day or night. All we ask
is that you note each beverage on the pegboard placed near the coolers.
Each night we'll tabulate your bar purchases and settle the bill when
you check out.
